1.Ultra-Low Deck Height: The defining characteristic. Its deck sits significantly lower to the ground (often 24-36 inches / 60-90 cm) compared to standard flatbeds. This is achieved through:

2.Gooseneck: A steeply angled front section that drops down and connects to the fifth wheel of the tractor unit.

3.Drop Deck: The main load-carrying deck is positioned below the level of the trailer's axles.

4.Removable Gooseneck (RGN - Removable Gooseneck Lowboy): Many modern lowboys have a detachable gooseneck. This allows the deck to be lowered completely to the ground, enabling loads to be driven or winched directly on/off (ground loading).

5.High Weight Capacity: Engineered with robust frames, multiple axles (often 2-7+ axles), and heavy-duty suspensions to handle massive weights, frequently exceeding 100 tons.
